There are at least three ways that we serve at WBCC:
- We serve one another in our community groups. We pray for one another, we “are there” for each other on a daily basis and step up to the opportunities within our group to give it structure and vibrancy.
- We serve in one of the many ministries that supports Celebration services and Community Group life (See Serving Opportunities). We encourage people to try various opportunities and find their niche. Then, once you find a ministry where you would like to consistently serve, join their core team (See Frequently Asked Questions below).
- Participate in one of the hundreds of service projects our Community Groups are involved in every year. You don’t have to be a member of a Community Group. Just contact your sponsoring group leader for information.

What are Core Teams?
Core Teams are dedicated groups of individuals that provide the foundation for a ministry. Ministries that have Core Teams include the following: Communications, Community Bible Institute, Community Care, Creative Arts, Donations Counting Team, First Impressions, Kids on the Rock and the Office.
What is the difference between a Core Team member and a Serving Heart volunteer?
A Core Team member is active in a Community Group and has made a commitment to a particular ministry to be available to serve on a regular and agreed upon basis. For example, several of the ministries are provided in conjunction with our Sunday celebration services and those core members serve every Sunday. Other ministries require availability during the week or weekend. For example, Wally’s Place (First Impressions ministry) has a need to serve once a month on Saturday morning for our Fresh Start seminar.
Serving Heart volunteers fill in the gaps for positions not covered by Core Team members. Kid’s on the Rock, Wally’s Place, the Welcome Team and Parking Team need Serving Heart volunteers every Sunday. The volunteers serve when it is their Section’s turn to serve. Trying different ministries in a Serving Heart capacity is an excellent way to discover your niche and then make a commitment to become a Core Team member.
What are the requirements for becoming a Core Team member?
- Be an active member of a Community Group.
- Meet other requirements (as applicable) particular to each ministry.
